Format and Structure

The PTE Argumentative Essay follows a standard essay format. It comprises three main parts: the introduction, body, and conclusion.  Let us go through each part below.

Part 1 – Introduction

Ensure that the introduction sets the tone for the essay and provides a clear thesis statement outlining the writer’s viewpoint. It should be concise and attention-grabbing, providing context for the topic and outlining the main arguments presented in the body, and it should have some unique words.

I often see people state a topic and then say the topic versus inspiration or an interesting topic. When I see those sentences, they do one of three things:-

  • Summarize the topic generally, but they don’t have any vocabulary, and also, they don’t make great first expressions.

Part 2 – Body

The essay’s body is where the arguments are presented and supported with relevant evidence. The body consists of 2 paragraphs. Each paragraph should focus on a single point in detail and use examples, statistics, or expert opinions to support the argument.

Part 3 – Conclusion

The conclusion summarizes the essay’s main points and reiterates the thesis statement.  Consequently, It should give the reader a clear understanding of the writer’s viewpoint and why it is essential.
